Shimmy-Up & Down
|Shimmy-Up & Down: In basic position, with both knees bent, slowly straighten the right leg slightly (don't lock the knee back), then slowly straighten the left leg slightly while once again keeping the right knee soft. As you do this, you should notice the right hip comes up when you straighten the right leg and the left hip comes up when you straighten the left leg. The weight is transferred from leg to leg as you alternate straightening the knees. This alternately straightening and bending the knees will cause the corresponding hip to come up right, left, right, left, etc.|
Advanced Shimmy (Vibration): Once the basic shimmy is comfortable, try making the movements of bending and straightening the legs smaller and faster to produce a very fine and fast shimmy or vibration.
